The plenary session of the Lleida Provincial Council approved the 2026 budget this Thursday, totaling 223.7 million euros, with the support of five political groups.

The accounts, which represent a 35% increase over the previous year, received the support of the four governing coalition groups (ERC, PSC, UA, and APL), in addition to Junts. Only the two deputies from the PP voted against the proposal.
The Deputy for Technical Services, Cristina Moron, confirmed that the budget includes a specific allocation for the Eix de Les Garrigues Altes project, which is now unblocked after months of requests from local municipalities. President Joan Talarn highlighted the inclusion of a new two-million-euro fund dedicated to addressing “meteorological catastrophes.”
Furthermore, an additional 15 million euros have been allocated for infrastructure improvements, including efficiency upgrades to water networks, the replacement of asbestos infrastructure, and the renovation of sports equipment across the Lleida region. The opposition leader, Jaume Ars (Junts), emphasized the capacity for dialogue and agreement among political forces.

"Our negative vote responds to the disagreement over what we still consider a low level of budget execution this 2025, at 60%."
