The city of Lleida has kicked off the fourth edition of the Public Vocational Training Week, an initiative bringing together seven public centers in the city to showcase their extensive educational offerings. Until April 29, institutions such as Escola del Treball, Escola d’Hoteleria i Turisme, INS Caparrella, INS Joan Oró, INS Guindàvols, INS Ronda, and INS Torre Vicens are organizing open house sessions, workshops, and talks, facilitating visits for families.
The upcoming academic year 2025-2026 will bring significant novelties aimed at improving student employability. One of the most notable is the introduction of a double higher degree in Social Integration and Gender Equality Promotion at INS Ronda, a qualification that will allow students to obtain two degrees in just three years and is only offered in Lleida and l’Hospitalet de Llobregat.
Furthermore, Escola del Treball will launch an innovative pilot program combining vocational training cycles with professional certificates in Administrative Management, Commercial Activities, and Electrical Installations. This initiative is designed for students who face difficulties accessing conventional intermediate degrees, offering an alternative path for their training and employment.
Other centers are also expanding their offerings: Escola d’Hoteleria i Turisme will debut the Food Product Preparation cycle and double its places in Cuisine and Restaurant Services. INS Caparrella will offer a PFI in Plumbing Assistant, while INS Joan Oró will add an intermediate degree pathway in Lifesaving and Rescue. INS Torre Vicens will implement a basic degree in Building Renovation and Maintenance, and INS Guindàvols continues to be a benchmark in fashion and textile vocational training, with high employability in refrigeration and air conditioning installations.
Interest in Vocational Training in the capital of Segrià continues to grow, with 3,929 students enrolled this academic year, a 7% increase compared to the previous year. Lleida also stands out in intensive dual training, with 29% of students undertaking paid internships of 1,000 hours, a figure significantly higher than the Catalan average (6.5%) and the national average (4.9%). This connection with the labor market is strengthened by the collaboration of 1,529 companies and the recognition of CaixaBank Dualiza support for a Lleida project.
The excellence of Lleida's VT is also reflected in competitive successes, with medals at SpainSkills (gold in Bakery, silver in Fashion Technology, and bronze in Cuisine) and multiple golds at CatSkills. Moreover, international projection is growing, with 109 students and 39 teachers participating in mobility programs during this academic year.
