The Bishopric of Lleida has confirmed it has no intention of rebuilding the bell tower of the Sant Pere church in Rosselló, ten years after its collapse on January 29, 2016.

The collapse of the Sant Pere church tower, which occurred on January 29, 2016, generated a widely circulated image and has kept residents of Rosselló wondering whether the building's original silhouette would be restored.
Although the church reopened its doors 27 months after the collapse, the new structure maintains a platform prepared for the eventual erection of a new tower, a recurring request from residents.

"The city council does not have the authority to act on a private building."

Sources from the Bishopric of Lleida have been clear in pointing out that there is no reconstruction project planned in the medium or long term. During the more than two years that the rehabilitation works lasted, religious services had to be held in a venue provided by the parish.
