Two girls witnessed a dog being abandoned from a van in La Granja d’Escarp on Tuesday, noting the license plate to facilitate a report to the Amigos Peludos del Bajo Cinca shelter in Seròs.

The shelter Amigos Peludos del Bajo Cinca, based in Seròs, took in the animal on Tuesday night. According to the organization, the two minors witnessed the dog being thrown from the vehicle in La Granja d’Escarp. They quickly noted the license plate and alerted an adult, who transported the dog, estimated to be six years old and weighing barely 1.5 kilograms, to the shelter's facilities.
The dog's condition was critical: she was severely malnourished and barely had the strength to walk. A volunteer immediately took charge of her care. This incident adds to a recent series of abandonments in the Lleida area.

"They could have died without anyone seeing them first. We are fed up with human unconsciousness, rejecting living beings without looking back"

In fact, the day before, the organization had already rescued a puppy abandoned inside a bag with a blanket near the Fraga river area. After publicizing the case on social media, the puppy quickly found a foster family in Lleida. Simultaneously, the shelter Amics dels Animals del Segrià reported finding two puppies abandoned inside a container, for whom they were also seeking foster homes.
