R1 users expressed their confusion and indignation at the Arenys de Mar station on the morning of January 28, 2026, facing the reopening of the section towards Blanes and the lack of information on whether to use the train or Renfe's alternative buses.

A few minutes after 7 a.m. on January 28, 2026, staff at the Arenys de Mar station had to work overtime to guide travelers who did not know which platform their train to Barcelona would depart from, or if they should continue to Blanes by train or use the alternative buses parked outside.
The confusion worsened when Renfe chose to maintain the alternative road service, despite the reopening of the section between Arenys de Mar and Blanes, with the aim of “stabilizing the service,” a decision that had initially been ruled out. This caused users queuing for buses to have to turn back.

"We are lost."

Many travelers got off the first train arriving from Mataró to board the alternative buses, complaining about the lack of information via public address system inside the train. One of them, Sergi, described the situation as “surreal that the section reopens and we are not informed.”

"We know absolutely nothing. Disasters like these don't even happen in Gambia. There is bad faith here."

Conrad · R1 Commuter
With problems in the station's public address system, staff and security agents had to guide travelers on foot. Even station workers were unclear whether the section was open or if the buses were still operating, adding more bewilderment to the early morning hours.
