Alella has become the Catalan municipality with over 1,000 inhabitants with the highest per capita income in 2023, while Lloret de Mar is significantly below the regional average.

According to data published by the Institut d'Estadística de Catalunya (Idescat), the per capita income in Alella reached 35,425 euros, far exceeding the Catalan average of 20,789 euros. This figure places the Maresme municipality at the top of the ranking for the first time.
Other localities that stand out for having a per capita income more than 50% above the average include Matadepera, Sant Just Desvern, and Cabrils. In contrast, municipalities such as Salt, with 13,633 euros per inhabitant, and Lloret de Mar, with 14,009 euros, record significantly lower income levels than the Catalonia average.
The Idescat analysis reveals that per capita income has experienced widespread growth, increasing in 464 of the 470 municipalities studied, with an overall increase of 8.5% in Catalonia compared to 2022. All regions have registered increases, with Alt Camp leading the way. The Maresme region also ranks above the Catalan average in this regard.
Regarding the composition of income, salaries continue to be the main source of income. However, significant differences are observed: in localities with lower income, social benefits have a greater weight in total income, while in municipalities like Alella, their contribution is smaller.
