The device allows the Intravenous Therapy team to perform the placement of peripherally inserted central catheters using ultrasound guidance. This technology facilitates real-time vein visualization, increasing procedure effectiveness and minimizing discomfort for patients requiring chemotherapy.
Using this equipment helps preserve patients' venous systems, reducing the need for repeated punctures during long-term treatments. Furthermore, precision in catheter placement lowers the risk of clinical complications such as thrombosis or infections.
The investment, valued at 24,502 euros, comes from funds raised during the 12th edition of Oncotrail, held in October 2025. Since its inception in 2013, this initiative has raised nearly 3.2 million euros for hospital equipment upgrades and support services for cancer patients and their families.
