The Blanes Hospital successfully completed its first retina surgery this February 2026, marking a significant expansion of the ophthalmology services managed by the Corporació de Salut del Maresme i la Selva.

This new surgical capability ensures that patients no longer need to be referred to external hospitals. By performing the procedure locally, the medical team can provide direct follow-up care, strengthening the relationship between doctors and patients in the Selva area.
Additionally, Adif has announced improvements in the local rail network. Speed restrictions between Maçanet-Massanes and Blanes have been reduced, covering only 1.6 kilometers of the track, which is expected to decrease travel times for commuters.
