Civil Protection has urged municipalities affected by the Susqueda dam to identify “safe zones” within their municipal areas, as part of the Dam Emergency Plan (PEP) presented by Endesa this Wednesday in La Cellera de Ter.

The initiative is part of the preparation for an “improbable” breach of the infrastructure, a scenario that would activate the Inuncat plan due to flood risk. The main objective is to ensure the safety of the population in the event of such an occurrence.
During the workshop organized by Endesa, it was explained that municipalities must designate elevated locations that can serve as shelters. In La Cellera de Ter, for example, the local school has been identified as one of these safe points, given its strategic location.
The Selva region would be the first to suffer the consequences of a hypothetical failure of the Susqueda dam. It is estimated that, once warning sirens are activated, water would take approximately half an hour to reach the locality.
