The mayor of Blanes, Jordi Hernàndez, has dismissed councilor Rosa Aladern, who was responsible for Engineering, Health, and Promotion of Municipal Urban Planning. The decision is based on a "loss of confidence" after Aladern carried out earth movement works at a campsite she owns last December without prior communication to the council.
“"My decision is motivated by a loss of confidence, after Rosa Aladern failed to communicate in due time and manner an action she carried out last December at a campsite she owns."
According to the City Council, the uncommunicated action involved earth movement near the sea, which is not permitted by the Municipal Urban Planning Plan (POUM) and was carried out without the required municipal license. Hernàndez immediately requested the opening of a file to determine the legality of the work as soon as he became aware of it.
With the dismissal, Rosa Aladern, head of the Grup Blanes list, moves to the opposition, breaking the governing pact signed in June 2023 between the PSC, Junts per Blanes, Grup Blanes, and later Blanes Si. Consequently, the governing team led by Jordi Hernàndez loses its absolute majority and remains in minority.
This government crisis entails a restructuring of the municipal organization chart. Mayor Jordi Hernàndez directly assumes the portfolios of Engineering and the Promotion of Municipal Urban Planning. Jaume Frigola takes over Public Health, and Mònica Rabassa becomes the new head of Housing Policies and Social Housing Promotion.
