On the morning of December 31, an organized group of thieves broke into and emptied 52 storage units across three apartment blocks in Riudellots de la Selva, making off with valuables and Three Kings gifts.

The incidents occurred in parking lots and storage areas located between the C-25 road and the Països Catalans avenue. Residents discovered the extent of the looting early in the morning when they went to retrieve their vehicles. The criminals primarily stole bicycles, valuable items, and a large quantity of Three Kings gifts that families had stored in the units.
The Mossos d’Esquadra (Catalan Police) have opened an investigation from the Santa Coloma de Farners station, as it is believed that the perpetrators were an organized and professional group that acted quickly and with coordination. So far, no arrests have been made, although officers have several pieces of evidence.
The police are currently analyzing surveillance camera footage, fingerprints, and other evidence collected during the on-site inspections to identify those responsible for the mass robbery in Riudellots.

The increase in storage unit robberies during the Christmas and Three Kings holidays is common, as many valuables and gifts are stored there. It is recommended to reinforce the security of these spaces.
