The police operation, carried out on March 31, allowed the minor to be found in the company of her mother and grandmother. The investigation began following the father's complaint in April 2025, after the French justice system withdrew custody from the mother for disobeying judicial rulings and repeatedly failing to comply with the established visitation regime.

The mother had previously expressed her intention to leave the country if she lost custody. A few months ago, it was noted that they had been in La Jonquera, but their trace was subsequently lost.

The girl had not been schooled since the abduction and was living with her mother and grandmother in an occupied dwelling, in very precarious conditions, without electricity or water supply. Once the minor's identity and her vulnerable situation were confirmed, she was placed under the guardianship of the Generalitat, which has taken care of her until her handover to the French authorities.

The mother and grandmother have been arrested in compliance with the international judicial orders against them.
