The Rodalies R1 line was interrupted Friday afternoon between Maçanet-Maçanes and Blanes due to a landslide, coinciding with the full resumption of rail service across Catalonia.

The service interruption on the R1 Rodalies line occurred on Friday afternoon after a landslide was detected on the stretch between Tordera and Maçanet-Maçanes. This forced the cessation of circulation between Maçanet and Blanes.
This new incident comes at a time of high tension in the network, as service had just resumed across Catalonia after a two-day halt following the fatal accident in Gelida, caused by a collapsing wall. It should be noted that on the same Tuesday of the Gelida accident, the R1 already suffered another incident when a train hit a rock, causing an axle to derail.

The service resumption was not carried out with sufficient guarantees.

A group of train drivers spontaneously gathered at Sants station in Barcelona to complain about the lack of safety. For its part, Renfe immediately activated an alternative road service to cover the affected section, maintaining circulation between Hospitalet de Llobregat and Blanes with a frequency of two trains per hour in each direction.
Simultaneously, the Government, Renfe, and the Catalan Traffic Service began a new monitoring meeting on Friday evening, with the presence of Adif, the Mossos d'Esquadra, and Civil Protection, to evaluate the network situation.
