Filmmaker Roger Usart presents tomorrow at the Carles Rahola Library in Girona the documentary El monstre de la Selva, exploring the mystery of a strange creature reported in 1968.

The crime section of the former newspaper Los Sitios reported, starting on February 27, 1968, the appearances of a creature in the Selva region. The article, written by Jaume Sureda Prat, sought logical explanations for the descriptions provided by residents of Vilobí d'Onyar, who spoke of a hairy animal with strange proportions.
Hypotheses at the time included a giant boar, a bear, or even a circus monkey. A witness from Brunyola described a giant being with sparkling eyes, sparking a wave of concern that reached the national press and turned the event into a long-standing local legend.

The documentary by Roger Usart, filmed between la Selva and the United States from 2022 to 2025, premieres tomorrow at 6:00 PM. The event will feature a discussion with the director and journalist Tura Soler to analyze how these myths inhabit the collective imagination.
