The Sils City Council has voiced its deep disappointment and surprise regarding the Education Department's stance on the future new institute for the municipality. Although Education acknowledges the intention to provide the center with permanent facilities, it has indicated that the investment budget for 2026 is already committed to prior multi-year projects. The council views this response as "kicking the can down the road without providing an answer," criticizing the absence of a clear path forward for the project.
The situation, affecting the Sils Institute, which has been operating in temporary classrooms for 17 years, has caused frustration for the municipal government. While they understand that next year's budget may be committed, the City Council regrets not being offered any prospects for the 2027 or 2028 budgets. This lack of clarity is perceived as a "worrying lack of empathy" from the responsible authorities.
The council reminds that it has completed a three-year administrative process to cede the necessary land for the new center, at the request of the department itself. They consider it "incomprehensible and inadmissible" that, after this effort, there is no clear definition of the next steps. The inconsistency between previous statements by the Executive and Parliament, which had advocated for the need of the facility, and the current situation is highlighted.
“"Citizens do not need excuses or justifications; they want solutions and horizons."
The municipal government emphasizes that its goal is not to debate "what happened and whose fault it is," but to find concrete solutions. The City Council commits to defending "the interest of the municipality and the educational community" and warns that it will not accept "not starting the journey," demanding that the institute have a clear "horizon."
