The Catalan Water Agency (ACA) has begun emergency water releases at the Susqueda reservoir this Saturday, as levels reached 102.5% following the wettest winter in three decades.

Overall water reserves in Catalonia have climbed to 92.10%. At Susqueda, authorities are releasing 250 m³/s through the spillway system, creating a massive cascade. This is a strategic move to prepare for the spring thaw in the Pyrenees, where snow depths currently range between 1 and 2 meters.
Other reservoirs including Foix and Llosa del Cavall are also over capacity. While the storm Regina is subsiding, Civil Protection remains on alert due to high river flows in the Ter and Muga basins, marking a definitive end to the long-standing drought.
