French Minor Abducted by Mother Located in Lloret de Mar

The six-year-old girl, missing for months, was living in precarious conditions with her mother and grandmother, both of whom have been arrested.

The Mossos d'Esquadra have located a six-year-old girl in Lloret de Mar who had been abducted by her mother in France, after French courts revoked the mother's custody due to repeated non-compliance with visitation orders.

The investigation began a year ago, following the issuance of two European Arrest Warrants (EAW) by French authorities against the mother and maternal grandmother. These warrants were activated for an alleged crime of child abduction, reported by the girl's father.
Previously, French justice had removed custody of the minor from the mother due to her disobedience of various judicial resolutions and repeated non-compliance with the visitation regime. The mother had prevented the child from having contact with her father and had expressed her intention to leave the country with the minor if custody was revoked.
After leaving France, the three individuals traveled to Spain. Initially, it was known that they were in La Jonquera, but their trace was lost. Towards the end of last month, new information placed them in Lloret de Mar. Finally, on March 31, the mother, grandmother, and the girl were located in the Fenals beach area.
Upon location, officers verified that the girl had not been enrolled in school since her abduction in France. Furthermore, it was confirmed that the three were residing on the ground floor of an occupied dwelling, in very precarious conditions, without electricity or water supply, a situation that the security force considered a risk for the minor.
Once her identity was confirmed, the minor was placed under the custody of the General Directorate for the Prevention and Protection of Children and Adolescents (DGPPI) until her handover to the French authorities. The mother and grandmother were arrested.
