The increase places Maçanet de la Selva very close to the minimum 55% target set by the European Union for the year 2025. This jump is particularly significant, as the town was previously considered one of the municipalities with the lowest recycling rates in the Girona region.

The council is confident of exceeding the European threshold next year thanks to the deployment of the new waste collection model. This system will include the installation of smart containers in the urban center, while the residential areas will maintain their current collection points.
