The Solxicsona festival reaches its ninth edition with a diverse and free program, designed for children and their families. During the last weekend of September, Solsona will host thirteen cultural, educational, and recreational activities in various city spaces. Most activities are free, except for Sunday afternoon's puppet show, which will cost 3 euros for accompanying adults.
Organized by the Children's and Culture departments of the Solsona City Council, the Children's Council, the Social Services of the Solsonès Regional Council, and the Carles Morató Library, the Solxicsona incorporates significant new features this year, without forgetting some established proposals.
The opening on Saturday the 26th, at eleven in the morning, will be the literary scavenger hunt “La clau és als llibres” (The key is in the books), facilitated by Solsona Experience. This activity, aimed at children aged 3 to 12 and their families, will also serve to launch the Solsona Municipi Lector (Solsona Reading Municipality) program. The scavenger hunt, set in the house of the Carnival giants, will require participants to help locate books and find a hidden key through clues and challenges around the city streets. Advance registration at the library is required.
On Saturday afternoon, at half past six, the Cine París will screen the animated film Taddeo Jones and the Magic Lamp. Admission is free, but booking is required through the Solsona 24/7 app starting September 19th.
On Sunday the 27th, from eleven in the morning to two in the afternoon, the Pare Claret promenade will host various free activities. One of the novelties will be the tecnolab, facilitated by Lab_06 (linked to UManresa), offering science, engineering, and technology exploration materials for children aged 5 to 10.
The workshop “En antena” (On air) will also debut at Solsona FM, where children from 1st to 6th grade can learn basic radio broadcasting skills. Places are limited and require prior registration before Thursday, September 24th.
The third novelty of the morning will be a tasting of quick family board games with teacher Bego Gaya Farré. Additionally, the Museu de Solsona will offer the workshop “I want to live in a coffee maker,” and there will be an adventure circuit, a bike circuit, inflatables, and mini-golf.
The Carles Morató library will set up a mobile library, and the El 6 Socio-educational Intervention Service will provide a 0-3 year old zone with adapted materials.
On Sunday afternoon, at six o'clock, the regional theater will host the puppet show La tempesta (The Storm), by the company Zero en Conducta, recommended for ages 8 and up. This play, awarded the Feten 2025 Prize, addresses the need to express emotions. Adult tickets cost 3 euros and can be purchased through the Solsona 24/7 app.
Solxicsona is supported by the Museu de Solsona, El 6, UBIC, the Associació d’Amigues i Amics del Cine París, Solsona FM, Solsona Experience, the city's educational centers and their AFAs, as well as Òmnium Cultural del Solsonès.
