Cine París in Solsona commemorates its first year of reopening, having welcomed over 18,300 spectators and screened nearly 200 films, exceeding viability expectations.

The cultural venue in Solsona, which reopened its doors on April 26, 2025, after five years of closure, has surpassed initial forecasts. Attendance figures are close to the City Council's calculations to ensure the project's viability, which estimated 18,000 annual spectators as the break-even point.

"The result is very positive."

The management of Cine París is carried out by the Associació d'Amigues i Amics del Cine París, which involves a hundred active volunteers. These volunteers handle various tasks, from selling popcorn to projecting films. The response from both the public and collaborators has been described as “extraordinary”.
Programming has been one of the pillars of success, combining commercial premieres with art-house cinema and original versions. The highest-grossing film so far has been Balandrau, which recorded 833 spectators in three screenings and generated significant interest in the city and the region. The association has also highlighted its linguistic commitment, with 34% of screenings in Catalan.

"We have deliberately created a varied program with commercial cinema, but also with films that have certain cultural or social value."

Recently, the association has undergone a change in presidency, with a local businessman taking over the role. Future challenges include attracting more volunteers to optimize shifts and the potential hiring of a part-time person for specialized tasks. Gradual investments are also planned to renew equipment and improve facilities, always subject to available budget.
Cine París, founded in 1964, closed in 2020 due to the pandemic. Its reopening has been possible thanks to a collaboration agreement between the property owner and the Solsona City Council, which covers half of the rent. The council has reiterated its financial support for the project, considering the management and programming model as exportable to other locations.
