The Pinós Town Council, located in the Solsonès region, announced this March that it has been forced to take out loans to cover energy transition projects due to grant delays.

The financial status of this village, with just over 250 residents, is critical. Local authorities are demanding an urgent solution from the Spanish Government and the Generalitat regarding the DUS 5000 program. The two-million euro grant was intended for sustainable heating and LED street lighting.

"We have done our homework and they are making us pay for their incompetence, their delay, and their ineptitude."

Xavier Vilalta · Mayor of Pinós
Mayor Xavier Vilalta stated that the town must pay 2,000 euros every month in bank interest. This represents nearly 20% of the annual budget, a significant burden for a project that was completed in November last year.
