The provisional data, which represents an increase of 236 people (2.42%) compared to the previous year, places the capital of Solsonès just 47 residents away from the 10,000 barrier. Exceeding this figure would entail significant changes in the municipal political organization, according to the Organic Law of the General Electoral Regime (LOREG).
Despite this provisional record, the Ordinary Plenary Session this Thursday will approve the official figure as of January 1, 2025, which stands at 9,717 inhabitants, in accordance with the regulations of the National Institute of Statistics (INE) which applies a one-year delay. This trend, however, consolidates the demographic recovery that began in 2023, following years of decline.
This growth is not just a symbolic figure, since if Solsona reached 10,001 inhabitants, it could expand the number of councilors from the current 13 to 17.
The demographic dynamism is reflected in the diversity of the population, with residents from up to 60 different nationalities. At the end of 2025, the provisional census recorded 2,098 foreign nationals, highlighting the Moroccan (854) and Colombian (119) communities, both showing strong increases.
