An episode of torrential rains caused a landslide a few months ago that affected a section of the LV-4241 road, in Guixers. Consequently, the slope was left in a vertical position, posing a high risk of further soil and rock detachments onto the roadway.
To guarantee stability and road safety, the Technical Services area of the Diputació de Lleida carried out emergency work over a period of two months. The total cost was 149,038.31 euros (VAT included), financed through the entity's road conservation contract.
The project execution involved the excavation and stabilization of the affected terrain, the construction of a new retaining wall (escollera) with internal drainage, the replacement of the road surface, and the restoration of the natural environment damaged by the heavy rainfall.
“"These investments are necessary to make our roads modern and safe routes, intervening directly in all municipalities to improve the quality of life of the residents, as in this case, in Guixers."
With this intervention, the area will be better prepared to prevent new landslides of earth and stones onto the road, as well as other damages caused by meteorological phenomena, representing a notable improvement for the residents who frequently use the LV-4241.
