The Solsona City Council and emergency services have reviewed the safety protocols for the 2026 Carnival, establishing a flare warning system to halt and evacuate mass events quickly in case of an incident.

The annual coordination meeting for the security device was chaired by Mayor Judit Gisbert, aiming to ensure the smooth running of the festival, which will take place from Saturday, February 7, until Ash Wednesday, the 18th.
Representatives from the Carnival Festivities Association, led by its president, Àlex Vilanova, the Governing Councillor, Esther Espluga, and members of the Police, Firefighters, and the Solsonès Medical Emergency System participated in the meeting.
Special emphasis was placed on the specific self-protection plan for the hoisting and lowering of the donkey ('penjada i despenjada del ruc'), one of the most iconic moments. This plan details the flare warning system to stop the activity and proceed with the evacuation of the area if necessary.
The protocol also sets the access points for emergency services: sanitary transport will access the Plaça del Ruc via Regata Street, while Firefighters will use Sant Pau Street, as stipulated in the Municipal Civil Protection Plan.
