A 54-year-old man died in Constantí (Tarragona) early on Wednesday, January 7, after a fatal fire broke out on the fourth floor of a residential building.

The Bombers de la Generalitat (Firefighters) received the alert shortly after 1:30 AM regarding a fire at a multi-family building on Carrer dels Horts. During the search and extinguishing efforts, crews located the body of the victim inside the damaged property.

The emergency operation was significant, involving ten fire units and seven ambulances from the Sistema d'Emergències Mèdiques (SEM).

The Sistema d'Emergències Mèdiques (SEM) treated four individuals, two of whom were taken in mild condition to Hospital Joan XXIII in Tarragona. Firefighters evacuated two people from the fifth floor and used the aerial ladder to rescue two others who had sought refuge on the attic terrace.
Although the fire spread up the building's facade to the upper floors, the structure was not affected. After the fire was controlled, residents were allowed to return to the unaffected floors. The Mossos d'Esquadra police force is now investigating the causes of the tragic incident.
