The Cancer Association in Tarragona has launched three new grants this February to support medical research and professional training within the province of Tarragona.

Dr. Bárbara Antonia Malavé has been awarded 154,000 euros to investigate prostate cancer. Her work focuses on identifying patient-specific differences to tailor treatments and predict how the disease will evolve in each individual case.

"The challenge is to identify differences between patients to adapt the treatment. This way, we can foresee how they will react and the evolution the disease may have."

A second project, led by Marta Canela with 110,660 euros in funding, explores the use of Artificial Intelligence in lung cancer. By analyzing blood samples and medical imaging, the study aims to find biomarkers that can personalize radiotherapy results.
Additionally, Maria Guirro received a training grant for a Master's degree in Molecular Oncology. Fede Adan, president of the local association, emphasized that scientific research is essential to reach the global goal of a 70% survival rate by 2030.
