Prison staff across Catalonia observed a minute of silence this Friday to honor Núria, the Mas Enric cook murdered by an inmate exactly two years ago.

The main memorial took place at Quatre Camins prison and was broadcast to other facilities. Pablo Martínez, the victim's nephew, spoke on behalf of the family, describing the pain as irreparable and calling for urgent political action to improve safety standards within the penal system.

"Núria was the first, and we must all ensure she is the last."

The family later traveled to El Catllar, in the Tarragonès region, for the central tribute at Mas Enric. Martínez acknowledged that while some progress has been made since March 2024, there is still significant room for improvement to protect both workers and inmates from violence and self-harm.
