In total, 10,389 acquisitions were formalized, representing an increase of 6.4% compared to the previous month and 5.7% compared to the same period last year. This boost is mainly due to the increase in new property sales, which grew by 17.5% year-on-year, reaching 2,177 units.
The increase in new home sales was observed in all Catalan provinces, with the exception of Tarragona. In contrast, second-hand homes experienced a more modest rebound, around 3%. Also noteworthy are the 617 sales of protected housing, a figure that represents almost 30% more than last year and the highest level since 2019.
The majority of transactions, approximately eight out of ten, corresponded to used homes, with 8,212 units sold. These increased by 3% annually and 10% compared to January. New homes, with 2,177 units, contributed significantly to the total figure, despite a slight decrease of 5% compared to January, a month with more days.
The upward trend was reflected in most provinces. In Barcelona, 6,875 flats and houses were sold, the highest figure since 2007. Girona also registered a 19-year record, with 1,415 properties sold. Similarly, Lleida reached its peak for a February since 2007, with 645 acquisitions. The only exception was Tarragona, which experienced an 11% year-on-year drop, although it recorded the second highest figure in two decades.
