Thefts and robberies with force in establishments were the most common crimes, with decreases of 2.2% and 7.8% respectively. Despite a 31.8% drop in intentional homicides or attempted homicides, penetrative sexual assaults increased by 24.7%.
There was also an increase in serious injury offenses (+8.1%) and cybercrime (+8.8%). Among cities with over 20,000 inhabitants, Salou and Amposta saw decreases of around 10%, while Vila-seca experienced a 7.3% rise and Reus a 6.1% increase.
Across the region, four murders were recorded, the same number as the previous year, while attempted murders decreased from 22 to 15. Offenses against sexual freedom fell by 4.5% to 256 cases, but penetrative sexual assaults rose to 106.
Salou (-11.6%) and Amposta (-9.6%) lead the general decreases in the region. Other municipalities such as Calafell (-8.3%), Valls (-8.1%), Cambrils (-6.3%), el Vendrell (-4.5%), Tarragona (-4.2%), and Tortosa (-1.9%) also experienced reductions. Only Vila-seca (+7.3%) and Reus (+6.1%) saw an increase.
In Vila-seca, the rise is primarily due to cybercrime, which more than doubled to 146 cases, while conventional crime decreased by 4.5%. In Reus, the generalized increase is concentrated in conventional crime (+9.1%), particularly thefts (+25.8%) and offenses against sexual freedom (from 30 to 48 cases), although robberies with violence and in homes/establishments decreased significantly.
