The Club Bàsquet Tarragona (CBT) has decided to sever institutional relations with CB Valls following serious incidents that occurred during the Tercera FEB derby on March 28 at the Joana Ballart pavilion in Tarragona.

The Tarragona entity has issued a statement condemning a 'climate of continued hostility' and urging the Catalan Basketball Federation, the Spanish Basketball Federation, and the Generalitat de Catalunya to 'undertake the corresponding disciplinary measures'.
The match between CB Valls and CBT had to be stopped for 20 minutes after a local fan assaulted a visiting supporter. Police intervention was necessary to resume the game.

"From the club, we want to express our full support for the assaulted person and make ourselves available, as well as support them in all legal actions they decide to undertake."

CBT has also denounced the 'lack of access control at the facility' and the presence of 'fans with alcoholic beverages inside the pavilion,' facts they consider 'especially serious in a context of tension like the one experienced'.
These incidents are not isolated, as in a Catalan League match a few months ago, a CBT player was subjected to an attempted assault in the locker room tunnel. Furthermore, the Tarragona club regrets that CB Valls' statement does not include apologies to the assaulted fan.
