The sixth edition of the Torneig Nord basketball tournament returns this summer with the participation of 43 teams, divided into two categories: boys' and girls' U14, from August 28 to 30, and boys' and girls' U12, from September 11 to 13. The tournament, organized by Club Adepaf Figueres and UCAP Peralada, will primarily take place in Figueres, with some activities in Peralada.
The competition will kick off on Friday, August 28, at 4 PM in Figueres, with the U14 finals scheduled for Sunday midday. The following weekend, the event in Peralada and Figueres will start at 10 AM on September 11 and conclude on Sunday midday. Access to the Roser Llop and Rafal Mora pavilions in Figueres will be free.
The tournament maintains its format of hosting top-level teams from Catalonia, across Spain, and some European clubs, including player academies and youth teams from top-division clubs such as Barça, Penya, Valencia Basket, and Bàsquet Manresa. These teams will play the first weekend in Figueres and the second between Peralada and Figueres.
Participants will be accommodated in Empuriabrava, generating an economic impact in the Alt Empordà region. This year, the tournament coincides with local events like Acústica in Figueres and Terra de Trobadors in Castelló d'Empúries.
In total, 43 teams will participate: 23 male and 20 female, totaling around 500 players. The local representation from Alt Empordà includes CB Escolàpies in the girls' U14 category.
Solidarity will also play a significant role, as a portion of the players' registration fees will be donated to FSHD SPAIN, the Spanish association for patients with facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy.
