CGT has filed a complaint against Ambulàncies Egara with the Labor Inspectorate for violating SEM contract terms in Camp de Tarragona, highlighting extreme vehicle temperatures and insufficient staff experience.

The CGT union has filed a complaint against Ambulàncies Egara with the Labor Inspectorate, arguing that the conditions stipulated in the contract for the Medical Emergency System (SEM) for sanitary transport in the Camp de Tarragona are not being met. The main operational base is located in the Nirsa industrial estate in Reus, where around thirty vehicles are parked on the public road.
According to the contract's specifications, parking areas must be "identified" and avoid "extreme temperatures." CGT delegate Serafí Ruiz stated that ambulances reach interior temperatures of 50 to 60 degrees Celsius, directly affecting patients, particularly those undergoing long-distance transfers to Barcelona for treatments such as chemotherapy or radiotherapy.
The complaint also points out that the facility intended for worker rest and the parking of about sixty ambulances is still under construction, despite the contract specifying that all bases should be adapted by the start of service. Furthermore, workers have to take their uniforms home to wash them because the subcontracted company is overwhelmed.
CGT also warns that some hired personnel lack the mandatory SEM courses and the minimum work experience required. Technicians who have recently completed their training have been hired, some without any experience in either the healthcare field or ambulance driving, raising concerns about user safety.
SEM sources have acknowledged that most complaints are labor-related and Egara's responsibility, assuring that audits will be conducted to ensure contract compliance and that sanctions will be applied if necessary.
