The CGT Ensenyament union has reported that the Department of Education plans to close eight educational lines in public schools across the Camp de Tarragona region for the 2026-2027 term.

According to the union, these measures represent a hidden cutback by the PSC government. They argue that public resources are being reduced while private subsidized schools maintain their full offer.
Affected schools are located in Tarragona, Cambrils, Valls, and Mont-roig del Camp. In response, protests have been scheduled from March 16 to 20 to demand higher investment and lower student-to-teacher ratios.

"Favoring a model that prioritizes private interests over the right to quality public education is a political decision."
