Civil Protection deactivated the Ventcat emergency plan alert this Friday, February 20, in Tarragona and across Catalonia as the severe windstorm subsided.

The 112 emergency hotline handled 523 calls by noon on Friday. Approximately 85% of these reports were related to structural risks in public spaces, such as fallen branches, trees, or damaged street furniture. The Barcelonès region recorded the highest number of incidents with 160 calls, followed by Baix Camp (72) and Tarragonès (55).
According to the Meteorological Service of Catalonia, peak wind speeds reached 155 km/h in Portbou. Other significant gusts were recorded in El Perelló (101 km/h) and Miami Platja (90 km/h). Despite the intensity of the storm, no serious personal injuries were reported by emergency services.
In Torredembarra, Mossos d'Esquadra and Firefighters briefly confined people inside a sports hall due to the risk of a falling metal plate. Meanwhile, the Catalan Traffic Service lifted speed and circulation restrictions for heavy vehicles that had been in place on the AP-7 highway.
