The initiative, launched at the beginning of the school year by Civil Protection in schools across Catalonia, primarily aims to equip students with the knowledge to prevent and manage risk situations. Topics covered include responses to strong winds, floods, forest fires, and chemical incidents.
Recently, the body's technicians conducted training sessions for third-grade primary students at the Eladi Homs school in Valls. During these meetings, self-protection plans were explained, and practical advice was offered on how to act correctly in an emergency.
“"We are concerned that citizens are increasingly taking photos and videos of emergencies to disseminate them on social media. Given this, we urge them to use their mobile phones to alert 112."
The trainers expressed their concern about the growing trend of documenting emergencies with mobile devices for social media dissemination. In this regard, they emphasized the importance of prioritizing phone use to contact the emergency number 112, thereby ensuring a rapid and effective response.
