The trains, both those heading towards Barcelona and those going towards Tortosa, suffered delays, causing the train scheduled for 7:26 a.m. from Reus to arrive at Tarragona eight minutes before the one that should have arrived from Tortosa at 6:59 a.m. This disorganization led to an accumulation of passengers on the first train, forcing some to travel standing, while the second train had empty seats.
“"I found the same as always. It is an endemic problem; the train always makes us late for work."
Xavier Pérez, a resident of Reus who commutes daily to Tortosa for work, explained that the situation has worsened recently due to the suppression of one train and its replacement by another coming from La Plana-Picamoixons that “never arrives on time.” This circumstance forces him to wake up an hour earlier to make the transfer in Tarragona.
The situation is no better for those heading to Barcelona. Joan Mercadé, who travels to the Catalan capital every week, lamented that the accumulation of travelers from the 7 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. trains often forces passengers to stand. Another affected commuter, Jan Bulat, a master's student in Barcelona, indicated that the constant delays cause him to miss classes, a situation that his program coordinator is already aware of.
