The incident occurred around 6 AM at kilometer 2.2 of the road, heading towards Tarragona. For reasons yet unknown, the vehicle, a Renault Kangoo, veered off course and violently struck one of the road's lampposts.
The force of the impact caused significant damage to the van, leaving it bent and facing the opposite direction of travel. Emergency services from the Bombers de la Generalitat had to intervene to free the driver trapped inside the vehicle.

According to information from the Servei Català de Trànsit, the exact circumstances leading to the crash are still under investigation. The N-240 is a key route for accessing and exiting Tarragona, connecting the city with the high-speed train station and Valls.
