Striking education unions have presented a unified counter-proposal to the department, focusing on a salary increase and the creation of 6,400 new positions, in response to the ministry's prior offer.

The unions USTEC, ASPEPC·SPS, and CGT have submitted a joint counter-proposal to the Department of Education, emphasizing improved pay and the addition of new job positions. This offer comes in rejection of the department's earlier proposal.
The union proposal calls for a monthly salary increase of 478 euros over four years for teachers and 544 euros for secondary school professors, with salary updates tied to the CPI. They also request the creation of 6,400 new positions and recognition of seniority debt, with a 30% increase in the first three stages.
Other demands include payment for overtime and night shifts during school trips, and negotiations on educational curricula, including halting the baccalaureate reform that plans to merge science subjects.
USTEC has also put forward a specific proposal for inclusive education, aiming to establish 6,400 new positions in the first phase, more than double the ministry's planned figure. In the long term, they aim to create an additional 12,500 structural positions, potentially reaching 20,000 if teaching hours are reduced.
Thursday's meeting was marked by the departure of the CGT, which left the negotiation table after the department informed them they did not have the €1 billion required to meet their salary demands. The CGT requested to be reconvened when salary discussions could take place.
The union Professors de Secundària, despite signing the joint counter-proposal, did not attend the meeting, deeming the department's offer insufficient and rejecting the negotiation framework established with CCOO and UGT.
Territorial strikes continue, affecting the Tarragona and Ebre regions this Thursday, with participation from the Valencian Community. The ministry had proposed improving regional salary supplements, creating new supplements, and hiring 2,405 new professionals for the upcoming academic year.
