The province of Tarragona is experiencing a new day marked by extreme temperatures and a high risk of wildfires, with Civil Protection activating the PROCICAT Alert and the INFOCAT Pre-Alert.

Intense heat continues to affect the southern third of Catalonia, with particular impact in the province of Tarragona, especially along the coast, pre-coast, and in the Terres de l’Ebre regions. According to the Meteorological Service of Catalonia (SMC), daytime highs could exceed 40 degrees Celsius inland in Terres de l’Ebre, with temperatures expected to be slightly higher than previous days.
This heatwave, which has already affected the province for several days and nights, is forecast to last from morning until evening. A partial improvement is expected for Thursday, although intense daytime heat will persist in the southern and central coastal areas. Additionally, a warning for high nighttime temperatures remains in effect for the southern and central coastal regions.

"We are facing an episode of intense and continuous heat that requires maximum caution from the public."

Civil Protection advises the public to drink water frequently, avoid strenuous physical activity during peak sun hours, and keep homes as cool as possible. Special attention is urged for the elderly, children, individuals with chronic illnesses, and outdoor workers. It is also reminded that leaving people or animals in parked vehicles is prohibited, even for short periods.
Alongside the heatwave, the risk of wildfires is very high, particularly in Priorat and Ribera d’Ebre. Civil Protection maintains the INFOCAT Pre-Alert due to the concerning situation in these regions. Risk maps also indicate a high danger in much of Terres de l’Ebre, as well as in parts of Ponent and Central Catalonia.
Given this scenario, citizens are urged to exercise extreme caution in natural areas and avoid any activity that could start a fire. If smoke or fire is detected, the instruction is to call 112 immediately.
