This action is part of the project for the improvement and consolidation of the riparian forest in the middle and lower section of the Glorieta River, a joint initiative by the City Council and the Aurora Association. The project is supported by the Catalan Water Agency (ACA), through its subsidy line for the recovery of riverbanks and wetlands, and also collaborates with Europe Direct Tarragona.
The planting will focus on the confluence of the Francolí River and the Glorieta, and will be divided into two areas: one for trees and another for shrubs and rushes. In total, 288 typical riparian forest species, belonging to eight different species, are planned to be planted to consolidate the vegetation.
The objective is to involve the residents of El Morell and nearby towns in the recovery of the Glorieta River, increasing its biodiversity and promoting its function as a biological connector.
The event will start at 10:00 AM with registration confirmation and a popular breakfast at Granja dels Frares. Following the activity presentation, the planting will begin at 10:45 AM.
Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to visit the warehouse and the tower of Granja dels Frares to observe the restoration and improvement works currently underway, taking advantage of the occasion.
