This week marks a significant anniversary for the community of Tarragona: Father Mario Buonanno will commemorate his 50th anniversary of priesthood on Friday. Born in Naples, Buonanno began his ecclesiastical career with a year in Rome and another in his hometown.
At just 28 years old, he arrived in Tarragona to collaborate with Father Carmelo in the Rogacionistas del Loreto community, settling permanently in the city. Since then, he has dedicated his life to religious service and social action.
“"He came to serve God in the best possible way, through prayer and action, the Friendship Telephone, and the immense work of the Friends of Loreto, with tireless attention to all in need."
His popularity in Tarragona, a city that named him an Adopted Son, is considerable. He is seen as a symbol of kindness and solidarity, values he has consistently demonstrated in his pastoral and humanitarian work.
