The British company has created a special two-week itinerary for the Western Mediterranean, with the eclipse as its highlight. The vessel arrived in Tarragona from Civitavecchia (Rome) carrying 2,000 passengers. After observing the eclipse from the Moll de Balears (East Quay), the Queen Victoria will set sail for Palma de Mallorca.
The itinerary includes other stops such as Villefranche-sur-Mer, Marseille, Barcelona, Ibiza, Cagliari (Sardinia), Messina (Sicily), and Salerno, before returning to Civitavecchia.
In a traditional exchange of plaques, Genoveva Climent, Head of Business Development at Port Tarragona, and Vanessa Martínez from the Tarragona Cruise Port terminal welcomed the ship's captain, Jonathan Ward.
This call is part of Tarragona Cruise Port's strategy to establish itself as a boutique port in the Western Mediterranean, attracting high-end cruises. Out of the 80 calls planned for this year, 45 will be from this segment, characterized by smaller capacity ships carrying affluent passengers, thus promoting sustainable growth for the destination.
