Members of Revolta Pagesa blocking access to the Port of Tarragona will hold a slow tractor march this Sunday at noon along the Rambla Nova to protest the controversial EU-Mercosur trade deal.

After spending a second night outdoors, about a hundred farmers are maintaining the blockade of the main access to the Port of Tarragona via the A-27 highway. The organization Revolta Pagesa has called for a slow tractor march heading towards Plaça Imperial Tàrraco at noon on Sunday, traveling along the Rambla Nova.
This action follows the farmers' disappointment after a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries, Òscar Ordeig. The sector plans to maintain the port infrastructure blockade until Monday and discuss further actions for the following week in assemblies.

"We ask for a representative of the Spanish Government, President Illa, the Minister of the Presidency, or the Government delegate to show their face."

Joan Regolf · President of the Catalan Farming Guild
The manifesto reading at Plaça Imperial Tàrraco aims not only to reject the EU-Mercosur agreement but also to appeal to citizens and explain the pact's consequences for the agri-food sector and the general population.
The protesters have received support from environmental groups in Camp de Tarragona and other demonstrators from the Lleida area. Despite the blockade, the farmers are open to negotiating the entry and exit of trucks carrying chemical products, hazardous materials, and live animals.
