The spokesperson for the entity, Eduard Escolà, announced on Catalunya Ràdio this Monday, January 12, that the farmers believe their demands have been heard. They trust that the intervention of the Government will minimize the damage resulting from the lifting of tariffs with Latin America.

Ramon Rojo, spokesperson for Revolta Pagesa in the Camp de Tarragona, explained that the lifting of the blockade is due to the commitments made with the sector. The meeting with President Illa is scheduled for this Monday afternoon.
The main demands focus on guaranteeing food safety and clear labeling that indicates the product's origin. Furthermore, they request aid to compensate for the difference in production costs compared to South American countries, demanding that foreign products have the same guarantees as local ones.
The decision was made at an assembly on Sunday night, after spending four nights sleeping outdoors. Despite the lifting of the blockade in Tarragona, farmers had maintained other significant cuts on the AP-7 between Borrassà and Alt Empordà, the C-16 in Berguedà, and the C-38 at Coll d'Ares.
