According to data published by the Ministry of Economy, the volume of foreign purchases has experienced a more pronounced increase, reaching 1,582.9 million euros, 26.2% more than in the same period of the previous year. These figures place the trade balance at a negative balance of 545.3 million euros.
The chemical sector remains the fundamental pillar of commercial activity in the area. This field has concentrated 39.2% of international sales, with 418 million euros, and 30.6% of imports, with 238.6 million euros.
As for consumer manufactures, they have occupied the second position in the export ranking with 160.9 million euros. However, this segment has suffered a contraction during the month of June, with a 15.6% drop in sales and a 44.7% reduction in foreign purchases.
In the first half of 2026, companies in Tarragona accumulated 6,083.3 million euros in exports, representing a 6.2% growth and 3% of the national total. The negative balance for the semester stands at 3,159.2 million euros.
