Protecció Civil, the Catalan Civil Protection Agency, has maintained the Ventcat emergency plan alert due to intense winds expected to intensify across the central and southern Catalan coast and pre-coastal areas this Saturday.

According to the Servei Meteorològic de Catalunya (SMC), gusts of westerly wind could exceed 72 km/h in several regions, including Tarragonès, Baix Camp, and Baix Ebre. In the most exposed areas, gales surpassing 120 km/h are expected, with the peak impact period forecast between the early morning and late evening on Saturday.
In addition to the wind, the weather episode has triggered the Neucat pre-alert for snow in the Pyrenees. In the Val d’Aran, snow depths exceeding 20 centimeters are possible above 1,400 meters during Saturday, coupled with a marked avalanche risk (level 3 out of 5).

The public is asked to check the weather forecast and road conditions before traveling, especially if planning trips to mountain areas.

Protecció Civil urges citizens to take extreme caution when traveling and engaging in outdoor activities. Recommendations include securing or removing loose items from facades, terraces, and balconies, and avoiding wooded areas or unstable structures such as scaffolding or billboards.
