Through a post on the social network X, the number two of Junts distanced himself from rumors indicating that the party intended to avoid holding primaries to choose its candidate. This stance reaffirms the commitment to respecting internal processes for candidate selection.
To date, two aspirants have already made public their intention to run in the primaries. The first was the current municipal spokesperson and candidate in the 2023 elections, who announced his decision months ago. Subsequently, a lawyer also expressed his interest in competing for the candidacy, submitting a letter to the national leadership requesting the call for primaries.
Additionally, the party has explored a third option, contacting a university professor and president of a cancer association, who previously served as a councilor in the Tarragona City Council between 2007 and 2015. This professional has not yet given a definitive answer regarding his potential candidacy.
