The Active Population Survey (EPA) published this Tuesday indicates that the unemployment rate has reached 10.16%, a reduction of 2.4 percentage points compared to the first quarter of the year. This figure represents the fourth lowest record since 2009, although the territory maintains the highest unemployment rate in all of Catalonia, where the average stands at 7.9%.
The volume of employed people has reached 415,700, which represents an increase of 24,000 workers compared to the period between January and March. This growth has been concentrated mainly in the services sector, which has added 28,200 new jobs, and in the industry, which has exceeded 70,000 employees with 3,700 additional hires.
In contrast, the construction and agriculture sectors have suffered a contraction in their workforce. Construction has lost 3,300 employed people, standing at 37,500, while agriculture has recorded a decrease of 4,600 workers, remaining with a total of 10,700 active people.
