The Mayor of Salou, Pere Granados, accompanied by the Councilor for Citizen Participation, Julia Gómez, attended the open day at the Protestant Church of Salou on Sunday morning. The event underscored the importance of coexistence, mutual understanding, solidarity, and citizen commitment to the church community.
During his speech, Granados particularly highlighted the exemplary work of Eluzai in defending human rights, especially through the reception, support, and assistance provided to individuals and families in vulnerable situations.
“"Human rights should not only be proclaimed; they must be defended and practiced every day. And Eluzai does this by placing people, their dignity, and their needs at the center of its actions."
The mayor thanked Eluzai for its solidarity and its contribution to building a more cohesive society, emphasizing its help to those most in need. "Your work is a concrete expression of solidarity, fraternity, and respect for human dignity," he stated.
Granados recalled that Salou is a pluralistic, diverse, open, and welcoming city, built on respect, freedom, equality, dialogue, and mutual aid.
“"A city is stronger when its neighbors know each other, share, and feel part of the same project, regardless of their origin, background, or circumstances. Salou is the common home for all the people who are part of it."
In this regard, Granados argued that coexistence and human rights are inseparable pillars of a democratic society, stressing the need to continue firmly defending peace, respect, solidarity, equality, and above all, the dignity of all people.
Finally, the mayor thanked the Protestant Church of Salou and Eluzai for the invitation and their commitment to the community, encouraging continued joint efforts to build a more just, solidary, fraternal, and humane community where everyone can feel an active part of the city's project.
