Members of Revolta Pagesa blocking access to the Port of Tarragona will hold a tractor march through the city center this Sunday at noon, maintaining the protest against the Mercosur agreement.

Catalan farmers have now spent two nights sleeping rough, blocking several roads to protest against the agreement between the European Union and Mercosur countries. As previously announced, the blockades are set to continue throughout the weekend.
Yesterday evening, farmer representatives met with Minister Òscar Ordeig and asked him to defend their interests in Madrid and Brussels. Despite giving him an ultimatum of “four hours” to join them in defending the “no” to the pact, the Minister's lack of response has led the farmers to maintain the road closures.
Accesses to the C-16 at the Port of Tarragona and the AP-7 in the Empordà region, specifically at Pontós, remain blocked this morning. However, farmers concentrated on the A-2 in Pla d'Urgell lifted their blockade this Saturday midday to move to other protest points.
In Tarragona, members of Revolta Pagesa blocking the main access to the Port have announced a tractor march through the city center this Sunday at noon. According to Joan Regolf, president of the Gremi de la Pagesia Catalana, new actions for the coming week will be debated, but for now, they plan to maintain the blockade until Monday.
Farmers denounce that the Mercosur agreement will allow tariff-free buying and selling, forcing them to compete against products that do not meet the same controls and guarantees mandated by European regulations, which they consider the end of the sector in Catalonia.
